USS Ranger (CV-4)

Congratulations USS Ranger Foundation
RANGER NEEDS YOUR HELP!

The USS Ranger Foundation submitted the Phase One application to NavSea to secure the donation of ex-USS Ranger (CVA/CV-61) as a museum. NavSea has accepted the application and approved continuing to Phase Two.
NAVSEA has given the USS Ranger Foundation the go-ahead for Phase 2 in their effort to save our ship! They have a very short window to complete this Phase and they need your help. In addition to your financial support, they need your letter of support. Click here and print out the page that opens, sign and send to the Foundation ASAP! Print extra pages and give to your friends!
Do you know Ranger may be the only west coast super carrier to be turned into a museum ship? With the exception of USS John F. Kennedy (CVA/CV-67), all current decommissioned super carriers will be scrapped and/or sunk. JFK is currently listed as available for donation as a museum. At least two groups are working toward this end. If successful, JFK will be on the east coast. She is currently in Philadelphia. No nuclear ships will ever become a museum.
Make Ranger a representative of all Super Carriers. Support needed NOW!

The clock is ticking.

From the Crew at the History, Memorial and Reunion website, we thank you and look forward to seeing you on Ranger in Portland!
Note: Ranger's sisters, Forrestal, Independence, Kitty Hawk, Constellation and John F. Kennedy are already slated to be scrapped and/or scuttled at sea. Saratoga's bid to become a museum is in doubt. Ranger will suffer the same fate if the Foundation is not successful.

Welcome aboard the USS Ranger (CVA/CV-61) Historical and Memorial Website. This site is dedicated to maintaining the history and record of the USS Ranger. On this site you will find not only interesting photographs of Ranger, her crew and aircraft but a wide assortment of facts and information about Ranger and her predecessors.
Remember all the information provided on the site had to be provided by someone! If you find something is inaccurate or a record that is not complete, please e-mail the deck boss!

USS Ranger at sea, August 1961. Note that she still had her forward 5" mounts.

USS Ranger, USS Kitty Hawk and USS Constellation in San Diego
Ranger, Kitty Hawk and Constellation in San Diego. Was this about 1985? It looks suspiciously like the day time shots in the movie, "Star Trek: The Voyage Home." Ranger filled in for Enterprise in this movie as well as the movie "Top Gun."

Lying quietly alongside her sisters, Independence, Kitty Hawk and Constellation, Ranger awaits her fate.
Our ship is silent. She was our home for a period of time. She took us to many interesting places over the years. She took us to some places we'd rather forget. Some of our crewmates and friends did not return. Help save her as a memorial not only to our own but to all who served aboard our sister ships.

Welcome Aboard
