Captain Noel A.M. Gayler

Capt. Noel Gayler, the son of a Naval Officer of many years distinguished service, graduated from the Naval Academy in 1935.
After Fleet Service in battleships and destroyers, he won his wings in 1940 and joined Fighting Squadron Three. During WWII, he served in various Pacific Fighter squadrons and as a test pilot. His field of work since includes research and development, administration, and varous commands. He is currently [1960] a qualified jet aviator, and holds an unofficial record for the longest jet flight made from an aircraft carrier.
His wife is the former Caroline Groves and they have three beautiful daughters and two irrepressible sons.
Capt. Gayler's last assignment before USS Ranger (CVA-61) was Naval Aide to the Secretary of the Navy.
